4/21、天気は曇り
昨日はしっかり雨が降ったので、苔たちもたっぷり潤ってるはず。
April 21st, cloudy skies. It rained well yesterday, so the mosses should be nicely hydrated.
そんな気持ちを胸に、今日は近所に寺と神社へ苔探索に行ってきました。
With that thought in mind, I headed out today to explore the local temple and shrine for moss.
近所の神社へ——コバノチョウチンゴケの絨毯に迎えられる
At the Local Shrine — Welcomed by a Carpet of Kobano-chochin-goke
近所の神社。
鳥居をくぐってすぐ、参道の脇には「コバノチョウチンゴケ」の絨毯エリアが広がっています。
At the local shrine. Just through the torii gate, a carpet of Kobano-chochin-goke spreads out along the pathway.
ただ、そのすぐそばには大きなイチョウの木。
落ちた花びらが同じくらい地面を覆っていて、苔との共演が何とも春らしい景色です。
Right beside it stands a large ginkgo tree, its fallen petals covering the ground just as much as the moss. A wonderfully spring-like scene.
木の根が盛り上がり、少し斜面になった場所にも「コバノチョウチンゴケ」。
ふわっと盛り上がったモコモコ感がたまりません。
Where tree roots push up the ground into a gentle slope, more Kobano-chochin-goke. That soft, puffy, cushiony texture is just irresistible.
灯篭と苔——神社の静けさに浸る
Stone Lanterns and Moss — Lost in the Quiet of the Shrine
灯篭の笠に生えた苔。
その奥には深緑の葉をつけた森の木々。

神社の軒下までしっとりとした空気に包まれ、なんとも言えない静かな雰囲気です。
The moist air wraps around everything right up to the shrine eaves — a quietly indescribable atmosphere.
おっと、ここにも「コバノチョウチンゴケ」。
見つけると、つい撫でてしまいます（笑）
Oh look, more Kobano-chochin-goke here too. Every time I spot it, I can’t help but give it a little pat. (lol)
神社の裏へ回る——シノブゴケが彩る本堂の景色
Around to the Back of the Shrine — Shinobugoke Framing the Main Hall
神社の裏側へ回ると、「シノブゴケ」の緑を前景に神社の本堂。
鮮やかな緑色が雨上がりの光でさらに美しく見えました。
Walking around to the back of the shrine, the main hall framed by the green of Shinobugoke. The vivid color looked even more beautiful in the post-rain light.
場所を変えてお寺の庭へ——ハイゴケとコバノチョウチンゴケ
Moving to the Temple Garden — Haigoke and Kobano-chochin-goke
場所を変えて、お寺の庭へ。
Changing locations, I headed into the temple garden.
石の上には「ハイゴケ」がしっかり着床しています。
Haigoke has taken firm hold on the stones.
近づいてみると、「ハイゴケ」に混じって、ここにも「コバノチョウチンゴケ」。
この苔、本日の主役かもしれません（笑）
Looking closer, mixed in with the Haigoke — Kobano-chochin-goke again! This moss might just be today’s star. (lol)
ゼニゴケ発見！まるで小さな傘みたい
Discovered Zenigo-ke! The Sporophytes Look Just Like Tiny Umbrellas
庭を散策していると、足元に「ゼニゴケ」を発見。
Strolling through the garden, I spotted Zenigo-ke at my feet.
今の季節だけでしょうか。
胞子をつけた姿が、まるで小さな傘のようで可愛らしいです。
Is this just a seasonal thing? The sporophytes look just like tiny little umbrellas — absolutely adorable.
斜面のタチゴケコロニー——触らずにいられない！
A Tachigoke Colony on the Hillside — Impossible Not to Touch!
寺から少し山へ入った斜面には、「タチゴケ」のコロニーがありました。
A little way up the hillside from the temple, I found a colony of Tachigoke.
みんなまっすぐ空を向いて、緑色も鮮やかです。
生命力を感じる景色です。
All standing straight up toward the sky, their green so vivid. A scene that radiates pure life energy.
そして、やっぱり撫でてみる（笑）
And of course, I had to give it a pat. (lol)
ユミダイゴケ？胞子だらけの不思議な苔
Yumidai-goke? A Mysterious Moss Covered in Sporophytes
胞子がたくさん伸びている苔も発見。
これはきっと「ユミダイゴケ」でしょう。
I also found a moss with lots of sporophytes stretching out. This must be Yumidai-goke.
近寄ってみると…
それにしても、ほぼ胞子しか見えません。
Getting closer… honestly, it’s almost entirely sporophytes. Barely any leaves visible!
神秘的なゾーンへ——滝エリアの苔ワールド
Into the Mystical Zone — The Moss World Around the Waterfall
ここからは、少し神秘的なゾーンへ。
From here, we enter a slightly mystical zone.
足元には苔をまとった石たちがぽつぽつと並んでいます。
これは「ホウオウゴケ」でしょうか。
小石が丸ごと包まれていて、なんとも可愛い景色です。
At my feet, small stones dotted about, each wrapped in moss. Could this be Houou-goke? The way the pebbles are completely enveloped is just so charming.
奥の赤い橋を渡れば、滝行ができる場所があります。
Cross the red bridge further in, and you reach a spot used for waterfall meditation.
手前の岩には「ハイゴケ」が広がり、雰囲気は抜群。
Haigoke spreads across the rocks in the foreground — the atmosphere here is outstanding.
滝周辺の苔たち。

「ホウオウゴケ」が美しく羽を広げています。
Houou-goke spreading its beautiful fronds like wings.
湿気たっぷりのこの場所は、まさに苔たちの楽園。
This moisture-rich spot is truly a paradise for moss.
山を下りると壁一面の苔！スナゴケの星形に癒される
A Moss-Covered Wall at the Mountain’s Foot — Healed by Star-Shaped Sunagoke
山を下りてくると、壁一面がモコモコに覆われていました（笑）
Coming back down the mountain, I found an entire wall covered in fluffy moss. (lol)
近づいてみると…
これは「スナゴケ」でしょうか？
Getting closer… could this be Sunagoke?
小さいながらも繊細な葉がとても綺麗です。
Small but with such delicate leaves — really beautiful.
下の石段の上にも、モコモコと可愛い「スナゴケ」。
On the stone steps below, more fluffy, adorable Sunagoke.
星形に広がる姿が本当にキュートですね。
The way it spreads out in little star shapes is just incredibly cute.

普段は通り過ぎてしまう石の上、壁の隙間、木の根元。
そこには小さくても力強く、美しい世界が広がっていました。
The tops of stones we usually walk past, the cracks in walls, the bases of trees. In each of those places, a small but powerful and beautiful world is waiting.
今日もまた、足元の宇宙にしっかり魅了された一日。
次はどんな苔との出会いが待っているのか、今から楽しみです。
Another day completely captivated by the tiny universe at my feet. I’m already looking forward to whatever moss encounter comes next.
