4月23日、天候はまさかの大雨（汗）
April 23rd — and to my surprise, it was pouring rain. (lol)
今回は近所の山へ、雨に打たれて潤いきった苔たちの素顔を見に行ってきました。
普段とはまったく違う、 “雨の日限定” を求めての探索です。
I headed out to the mountain nearby to see the mosses in their fully rain-soaked state. A search for that special, rainy-day-only look you just can’t find on a normal day.
山へ上がっていく階段。
山頂には大きな神社があり、こちらは裏参道になります。

裏参道の階段——コツボゴケとホウオウゴケが迎えてくれる
The Back Approach Stairs — Welcomed by Kotsubogoke and Houou-goke
階段の脇にはコツボゴケが広がっています。
つやつやとした葉が雨水をまとい、とても美しい姿です。
Kotsubogoke spreads out along the side of the stairs. Its glossy leaves draped in rainwater — just stunning.
ホウオウゴケも元気よく立ち上がっています。
苔たちが重なり合いながら、しっかりと雨水を蓄えている様子が伝わってきます。
Houou-goke standing tall and lively. You can really sense how they overlap and hold the rainwater together.
シダ植物や周囲の植物たちも、どこか誇らしげに生き生きしています（笑）
The ferns and surrounding plants all look proudly alive and thriving too. (lol)
シダもこの季節らしく、みるみる成長中です。
The ferns are growing fast — very much in their season right now.
こちらもホウオウゴケでしょうか？
少しずつ勢力を広げてきています。
Could this be Houou-goke too? It looks like it’s been slowly spreading its territory.
石垣に広がる苔の世界——リボンゴケとハイゴケの共存
A Moss World on the Stone Wall — Ribongoke and Haigoke Coexisting
この石垣には、さまざまな苔が共存しています。
This stone wall is home to many different types of moss, all coexisting together.
こちらはリボンゴケでしょうか？
Could this be Ribongoke?
いつもは乾燥して縮れているハイゴケも、この日はふっくらわさわさ。
思わず触れたくなる柔らかさです。
The Haigoke, which is usually dry and shriveled, is today plump and lush. So soft-looking you just want to reach out and touch it.
階段の際にもハイゴケたち。
Haigoke growing right along the edge of the stairs too.
こんな目立たない場所にも、一段一段しっかり根を張っています。
Even in such an inconspicuous spot, they’ve firmly rooted themselves on every single step.
おっと…こちらの石壁にはリボンゴケがたくさん生えています。
Oh my… this stone wall is covered in Ribongoke.
急階段の側溝と壁面
コケ、シダ、その他の植物たちが、それぞれの生存エリアを分け合うように暮らしています。
The drainage channels and walls along the steep stairs — moss, ferns, and other plants all sharing their own living space alongside each other.
コバノチョウチンゴケとタチゴケ——丘の上の緑の絨毯
Kobano-chochin-goke and Tachigoke — A Green Carpet on the Hill
少し丘になった場所には、コバノチョウチンゴケが広範囲に広がっています。
On a slight rise in the ground, Kobano-chochin-goke spreads out over a wide area.
こちらにはタチゴケの大きなコロニー
雨に濡れて、みずみずしい緑がひときわ輝いていました。
Here, a large colony of Tachigoke. Wet with rain, the fresh green was shining more brilliantly than ever.
山の中腹の神社——苔をまとった灯篭とヤマゴケ
The Shrine Halfway Up the Mountain — Moss-Covered Lanterns and Yamagoke
山の中腹にある神社。
生き生きとした植物に囲まれ、どこか神々しい雰囲気です。
A shrine partway up the mountain. Surrounded by vibrant, living plants — there’s something almost divine about the atmosphere.
苔をまとった灯篭の笠も、なんとも風情があります。
The moss-covered cap of the stone lantern has such a wonderful, timeless charm.
ここにはヤマゴケが小さなコロニーを作っていました。
Here, a small colony of Yamagoke had made its home.
神社の石の上には、小さなホウオウゴケたち。
岩肌と緑のコントラストが見事です。
Tiny Houou-goke growing on the shrine stones. The contrast between the rock surface and the green is really striking.
これは、ハイゴケでしょうか。シノブゴケでしょうか。
力強い生命力を感じます。
Is this Haigoke or Shinobugoke? Either way, you can feel the powerful life force radiating from it.
神社の裏へ——ハイゴケの壁とカタツムリとの出会い
Around the Back of the Shrine — A Wall of Haigoke and a Surprise Snail Encounter
神社の裏へ回ると、壁一面にハイゴケがぎっしり。
Walking around to the back of the shrine, the entire wall is packed with Haigoke.
その隙間をゆっくり歩くカタツムリ。
こういう小さな出会いも、雨の日散策の醍醐味ですね。
A snail moving slowly through the gaps. These little encounters are one of the real joys of rainy-day exploring.
最後は灯篭の下に生えていたコバノチョウチンゴケ。
Last up — Kobano-chochin-goke growing at the base of a stone lantern.
伸びた蒴に雨水が付き、自然の恵みをそのまま映したような姿でした。
Rainwater clinging to the extended capsules — a sight that seemed to reflect nature’s gifts in their purest form.
まとめ——雨の日の苔は別格！また来たい

今回は大雨の中、傘をさしながら近所の山へ苔たちを観察に行ってきました。
完全に潤った苔たちは、普段以上に生命力にあふれ、まるで別の生き物のようです。
This time I ventured out into heavy rain, umbrella in hand, to observe the mosses on the nearby mountain. Fully hydrated, they were more vibrant than ever — almost like different creatures entirely.
晴れの日には見えない表情がある。
だからこそ、雨の日の苔散策はやめられません（笑）
There are expressions you can only see on a rainy day. That’s exactly why I can’t stop going out to see moss in the rain. (lol)
