それは…
高確率で「ホソウリゴケ」か「ギンゴケ」です。
今日は「ホソウリゴケ」の写真を撮ってきたのでご回覧です（笑）
When you walk through the city, you’ll find moss growing just about everywhere. And chances are… it’s either “Hosourigo-ke” or “Gingo-ke”! Today I’ve brought some photos of Hosourigo-ke for your viewing pleasure (lol).
道端でよく見かける！それがホソウリゴケ
Found Everywhere on the Street — That’s Hosourigo-ke!
道端にふと目をやると、そこら中にこんもりしてる苔が見つかります。
Just glance down at the roadside and you’ll find fluffy little mounds of moss growing all over the place.
「ホソウリゴケ」です。
コンクリートだろうが、溝の側壁だろうがどこにでも生えています（笑）
This is “Hosourigo-ke.” It grows pretty much anywhere — on concrete, on drainage channel walls, you name it (lol).
雨上がりに輝く美しい緑色
A Vivid Green That Shines After the Rain
先日、しっかり雨が降ったので、湿った「ホソウリゴケ」はとてもきれいな緑色をしています。
After a good rainfall recently, the damp Hosourigo-ke has turned a beautifully vivid shade of green.
とにかくどこでも生えるくらいなので、乾燥にはめっぽう強いです。
しかし、蒸れには弱いんだって（笑）
風通しの良いところが好きだそうで、だから自分たちの生活圏にいっぱいいるんだよね。
繁殖力も強そう！
Since it grows pretty much everywhere, it’s incredibly resistant to drought. But apparently it doesn’t do well in humid, stuffy conditions (lol). It prefers well-ventilated spots — which is exactly why we see so much of it in our everyday surroundings. It seems to have quite the reproductive power too!

A Natural Terrarium in the Wild!?
ほら、もうこれだけで天然のテラリウムだ。
Look at that — it’s basically a natural terrarium all by itself!
ホソウリゴケとハマキゴケを見分けてみよう
Telling Hosourigo-ke and Hamakigo-ke Apart
画像の手前の方が「ホソウリゴケ」で中央辺りの鮮やかな緑の方が「ハマキゴケ」です。
The moss in the foreground is Hosourigo-ke, while the vivid green patch in the center is “Hamakigo-ke.”
ぱっと見は同じ苔っぽいですが、違う苔に気づけると楽しくなります。
At first glance they look the same, but once you start noticing the differences, it makes the whole experience so much more fun!
テラリウムには不向き？意外な一面
Not Suitable for Terrariums? A Surprising Side of Hosourigo-ke
日向でも堂々と生えてます。
この「ホソウリゴケ」は容器で育てるテラリウムには不向きなんだって。
タフそうに見えても、環境が違えば育てるのは難しいそうです。
It grows boldly even in direct sunlight. Interestingly, Hosourigo-ke is actually not well-suited for closed terrarium containers. As tough as it looks, keeping it alive in a different environment can apparently be quite challenging.
触ってみるとカサカサ（笑）
それでも乾燥に強いから大丈夫。
Touch it and it feels dry and crinkly (lol). But that’s fine — it’s tough enough to handle the dryness!

このこんもりした感じを見てると、やっぱり鉢植えの盆栽が似合いそうですね！
Looking at that fluffy, mounded shape, it really does seem like it would look perfect on a potted bonsai tree!
